Leicester Tigers have signed Auckland lock Jack Whetton until the end of the season with an option to extend the deal.
Whetton, whose father Gary captained the All Blacks and played 58 Tests while his uncle Alan played 65, has been training with Leicester in recent days.
He has Super Rugby experience with the Brumbies and Leicester hope the 22-year-old's rich family heritage will help him be a success at Welford Road.
Tigers club captain Ed Slater is out for the season, while Geoff Parling is working his way back from injury.
