Meehan looks forward to welcoming new back-rower
Bath has received a well-timed boost ahead of the pre-season after securing highly-rated Australian flanker Julian Salvi on a one-year deal.
The 23-year-old from Canberra will join the West Country side from the Brumbies having represented the Australian Under 21s in 2005 and 2006. The 6ft 1in youngster also captained the side in 2006 before going on to make a notable impact during the 2008 Investec Super 14.
"I am looking forward to starting a new chapter in my rugby career," admitted Salvi,
"And, where better than in England and with Bath. It is a strong club, with a proud history doing exciting things and I really want to become a part of that."
The robust and versatile back rower has a reputation as a mature and respected player which will inevitably aid his development and progression at Bath.
Salvi has the option to extend his contract for a further year with Bath, but in the mean time, head coach Steve Meehan is looking forward to welcoming the fellow Australian. He believes that Salvi will make an excellent impact at The Rec, not least with his ability to play in any of the back three positions.
"At only 23, Julian arrives with considerable leadership experience." said Meehan,
"I am looking forward to watching Julian play alongside his new teammates and in front of his new supporters at the Rec.
"I am sure that he will help the team to continue in its development and desire to win trophies."
