Verdict

A decent little novices' contest, which can go to the Venetia Williams-trained Old Marsh, who won two races in July on the bridle and should be too good for these on ground that he clearly relishes. The one to chase him home could be Supreme Native. The six-year-old had a solid enough introduction to hurdles last season without setting the scene alight, but with 10lbs in hand from the favourite and another summer under his belt, the gelding should be good enough to finish closer to the selection than the rest. Another with place claims is Persian King, who won a very moderate looking maiden hurdle at Worcester last time, but has plenty more on his plate here.
