In depth

Verdict

Luca Cumani's Summer Serenade is returning from a long break but could be good enough to take this competitive maiden, Seeking A Way and Opera Star look the main dangers. This daughter of Saddler's Wells shaped nicely in maidens at Windsor and Kempton in the height of summer and must be respected from this top yard. There is always the worry that she will not like this surface but her form is quite decent so we will take that chance. One that is proven on the Polytrack is John Gosden's Seeking The Way, who put up a decent effort over a slightly longer trip here last month when chasing home Meissen, another bold showing can be expected. Opera Star is from another top yard and has also shown a liking for this surface, in fact her best effort came here in January when a close up fourth in a mile maiden. Of the others Charleston can take a hand in the finish if reproducing his best form, but Summer Serenade could be a classy recruit to the all-weather and gets the verdict.
