Verdict
Another race where it is hard to be dogmatic. But Zarzu has always been better over sprint distances and edges the vote over old rivals Dancing Mystery and Salviati, who both have sound claims with conditions that should suit. Brave Burt is one for each-way players to consider as he gets his ground for the first time in an age and has the assistance of Kieren Fallon in the saddle. The champion jockey has a good record when riding for the owners and, as he got a good tune out of David Nicholls' charge the only other time they were paired off, a bold bid cannot be ruled out. The Lord should get closer to Salviati if he handles the ground but, like a few of the rest, has been running as if in the grip of the handicapper. Which is a statement that cannot be leveled at the selection now that he races off a 1lb lower mark than when he won a valuable handicap on the all weather last December. Equally effective on turf, Zarzu usually finishes his races with a rare rattle and, as the conditions do not present him with any foreseeable problems, he looks a good bet to get his head in front whilst he remains in such good form.
