Verdict
With not a great deal of winning form to go on, Kings College Boy might be the answer, with Penny Ha'penny and American Cousin other to consider. The latter is one of four David Nichols runners, and it is anybody's guess as to which one the stable fancies most, but on form American Cousin must be in with a chance. A winner at Beverley the time before last thanks to a smooth passage, his luck changed at Pontefract when he had to be switched before finishing fourth to Guns Blazing. Drawn high in stall 17, he should have no excuses, especially if they split into two groups. Kings College Boy is drawn in the middle, and lines up on the back of a fair second at Chester where he had to contend with a bad draw. Richard Fahey's charge had earlier lost his maiden tag at Nottingham, and although no world-beater, has more scope as a three-year-old than most of his rivals. Penny Ha'penny has a bit to find with the selection on a line through Justalord, and is closely matched with Catch The Cat on Doncaster running as well. As stated, it is a hard one to go out on, but a tentative vote goes to Kings College Boy.
