Verdict

Mistress Twister was good value for her win at Hamilton earlier this month and has solid claims off just a 4lb higher mark but today's much softer ground has to be of concern and a safer bet looks to be Mezuzah, who gets the vote ahead of Dakota Rain. The selection has justifiably been punished by the handicapper for his win over course and distance on soft ground in the Spring Mile and has struggled since but today's softer going will help and he may be able to bounce back to winning ways now that the ground is in his favour once more. David Nicholls has his string in good heart now so there may be more to come from Hypnotic, while Zarabad is less exposed than most of these and cannot be discounted. Nevada Desert would need to step up on previous form this season to take a hand but may improve for racing on a softer surface although a bigger threat is likely to come from Richard Guest's lightly raced Dakota Rain. Mezuzah has an obvious chance under these conditions though and he gets the vote to resume winning ways.
