In depth

Verdict

Spitfire comes here chasing the hat-trick and gets the vote to win again. Sofia's Star and Blues Minor make it to the shortlist. Impressive when winning at Yarmouth in May, John Jenkins' imposing gelding is taken to extend his winning sequence to three here. The form of that win has been franked by the runner-up running well at Ascot and with more improvement to come, he can carry top-weight to victory. Blues Minor also has top-weight today but Richard Hannon's son of Acclamation showed plenty of promise on debut and can go close now over this extra furlong. The Name Is Frank ran well in defeat last time out and has place claims again, as does Bazguy who is another who appreciated the step up to this trip as well. Sofia's Star though looks the main danger as he won well at Goodwood last time out and is one who gets this trip very well. Whilst he has a decent future ahead of him, Spitfire looks a horse to follow and is taken to mow his rivals down late on.
