Verdict
An open-looking handicap which can be taken by Royal Storm. Admittedly, his low draw will not help, but he put up a really tough display to hold off previous winner Qazween at Goodwood last time and should be up to winning this. Top weight Choto Mate is on his way back down the handicap and can win off his present mark, though his recent efforts suggest that he is still exposed. Tribal Prince hit form over this trip on fast ground at Redcar last month and showed that was no fluke last time at Salisbury. Back over seven furlongs again, the gelding cannot be discounted. Of the remainder, Quantum Leap looked decent when winning over the trip at York in July and could be in the shake-up, while Young Alex comes from the in-form Karl Burke yard and might still be good enough to finish ahead of Tribal Prince (4lb pull) on their running at Salisbury. He is perhaps the one to give the selection most to do.
