Verdict
Five successive seconds tells its own story about Code Sign, who does not look an easy ride and perhaps also lacks a bit of heart in the closing stages. So we will look elsewhere for a winner of this maiden and take a chance on the David Elsworth-trained Saint Alebe. The gelding made a promising debut over 10 furlongs here in June, and has had a break since being defeated by Spinnette at Newmarket the following month. Freshened up by that and with some experience to build on, he is a tentative selection for this nine furlong contest. William Haggas's Sociable has had plenty of chances so far, mainly over a mile and it may just be that this extra furlong is spot on for her, so she could be the one to give the selection most to do, while African Sahara is another to consider.
