In depth

Verdict

Countrywide City, Coleorton Choice and Scrapper Smith look the pick here, with Countrywide City taken to follow up an improved effort last time. Coleorton Choice ran in a hot Ripon maiden on debut, staying on well in the closing stages to be a very respectable fifth. He can be expected to improve for the run but even the bare form-the winner is smart-entitles him to be thereabouts here. Scrapper Smith may be one for the frame after a much improved run to be third in a Kempton maiden last time after a disappointing debut. Others may be quicker though here. Countrywide City was made favourite at Redcar after showing promise in a Newmarket maiden, but was run out of it close home by a useful type. Countrywide City has slightly more experience than Coleorton Choice and gets the vote.
