In depth

Verdict

The Willowy Widgeon, Metal Madness and Just Sam are the trio to make the shortlist here, with The Willowy Widgeon taken to go one better after a good second last time. A winner at Thirsk on his re-appearance where he beat Just Sam, Metal Madness ran well at Yarmouth last time to finish second. He runs off the same mark here but top weight may ensure a place is the best he can hope for. Just Sam is five pounds better off with Metal Madness for a beating of just under three lengths and has just been touched off on his latest start. He remains on the same mark, but this may be a tougher assignment. Beaten in sellers last season, The Willowy Wigeon seems to be improved this season judged on his re-appearance effort when just run out of it close home in a Bath handicap. He is four pounds higher here, but The Willowy Wigeon looks the one to side with here.
