Wasps tight-head prop Marty Moore is hopeful that his move to the Aviva Premiership club will not harm his chances of an Ireland recall.

Moore, 25, left home province Leinster for Wasps over the summer, signing a lucrative three-year deal with the English club.

Moore missed the 2016 Six Nations and Ireland's summer tour to South Africa with a obstinate hamstring injury but is now fit and ready to start the new campaign with Wasps.

Unlike England, there is no rule preventing Irish players playing abroad from being selected, though IRFU performance director David Nucifora warned that such players would be at a "disadvantage" with regards to test selection.

"Ireland selection hasn't really been spoken of, with the fact I've been injured as well," Moore said. "So it hasn't come up, there haven't been chances where I've been playing and there's been a selection issue. It hasn't raised its head yet."

Former Leinster teammate Ian Madigan was overlooked for the summer tour after moving to Bordeaux Begles in France, but Moore is hopeful that performing in the Aviva Premiership will be enough to earn a recall to Joe Schmidt's squad.

"I think this is a great club and a great competition and hopefully if I'm in a position where I'm playing for the club, I'll be in just as good a position to put my hand up for selection internationally."
