Gareth Jenkins has been dismissed as Wales head coach following the defeat by Fiji and elimination from the Rugby World Cup.
Wales were shocked 38-34 by Fiji in Nantes on Saturday and failed to reach the quarter-finals of the competition.
Jenkins was informed of the Welsh Rugby Union's decision by chief executive Roger Lewis and chairman David Pickering at the team's hotel on Sunday morning.
Under-fire
Jenkins, who took over from Mike Ruddock in April 2006, was already under-fire before the World Cup started after a run of bad results in the last Six Nations and in the build-up to the tournament.
During his time in charge, Wales won only six out of 20 games and only two of those - against England and Argentina - came against the major rugby-playing nations.
No replacement has yet been named although Llanelli coach Phil Davies is thought to be a leading contender.
