Hull KR release Stephen Holker from his contract

Stephen Holker has been released from his contract by Hull KR with immediate effect.

Back rower Holker made four senior appearances for the Robins since making his debut last season after coming through the club's academy.

"We wish Steve all the best during the rest of his career and thank him for all his efforts whilst at the club," head of rugby Jamie Peacock told the club's website.

"It's probably fair to say that injuries at unfortunate times have prevented him from playing more games at Super League level but he's at the stage now where he needs to be playing every week in order to progress.

"We are not in a position to offer him that as a couple of young forwards from the City of Hull Academy have overtaken him in the pecking order in James Webster's squad.

"This is a move that is best for all parties and we wish him good luck for the future."
