Wallabies discard Quade Cooper will captain the Barbarians against Australia later this month.
The 29-year-old fly-half has been capped 70 times by Australia but his days as a regular may be over after he was dropped ahead of this year's Rugby Championship.
His announcement as Barbarians captain for the clash in Sydney on October 28 was tweeted by former Australia coach Alan Jones, who will mentor the invitational side.
Jones, who is now a radio talk show host, also interviewed Cooper, who played his last international against Italy in June.
"I'm going to be out there doing my best to attack from everywhere," said Cooper. "Attack well and really make it entertaining for the people watching.
"There's a lot of emphasis these days on defence and that in turn slows the whole game down.
"Having focus on attack, you can break down defences, you can make it entertaining and it's always fun to figure out ways to break down defence."
The former Wallabies playmaker has been playing for Brisbane City in Australia's national championship, since he was cut from Australia's Rugby Championship squad.
The Wallabies will take on Cooper and the Barbarians three days before departing for Japan, where they will play a Test en route to Europe.
