Leicester Tigers flanker Dominic Ryan has been stood down for three months due to a series of concussions.

The 27-year-old Irishman, who joined Leicester from Leinster last summer, suffered a head injury in the win over Harlequins on September 23.

"Dom had a couple of head knocks before he got here and then he picked up another one in the game at Quins, so he is being stood down for three months," said Tigers head coach Matt O'Connor.

"That is standard procedure at the moment, and we have done it with other players before, but a player's welfare is paramount and we look forward to having him back to full fitness and available to play after that break.

"It is disappointing because he was settling in well and has a key part to play for us, but it is very important to look after players and we hope to have him back around Christmas.

"We have a good squad and there are options in the back row and we will continue to prepare as well as we possibly can with the players we have."
