Hinckley RFC certainly demonstrated the power of their pack at the weekend when they knocked down the posts during a scrum.

The incident occurred 10 minutes into Hinckley's National League 2 North game against Luctonians.

A scrum was awarded 10 metres out and the East Midlands club drove their opponents back towards their own tryline wiping out one of the goalposts in the process.

While the incident caused some amusement, Hinckley chairman John Tilley took a more pragmatic view: "I didn't really think anything of it until the post started falling down." he said

"The bloke behind ran for cover and then I just thought 'well there's £7k gone like that'. We didn't score either!"

"I think that scrummage set the tone because our opponents kind of lost it after that."
