Australia's Israel Folau has lost his appeal against a one-match suspension for his challenge on Ireland captain Peter O'Mahony.

The ban will see Folau miss the Waratahs' Super Rugby match against the Rebels on Friday.

The Australian full-back was yellow-carded and subsequently given a citing commissioner's warning over two aerial contests after O'Mahony, who was lifted by a team-mate, landed awkwardly.

The Appeal Committee heard the appeal on Thursday but could not conclude that the decision of the Judicial Panel was wrong, and dismissed the case.
