England fly-half looking to extend stay at Toulon
England fly-half Jonny Wilkinson is holding talks about extending his deal with Top 14 outfit Toulon.
Wilkinson made the move to France from Newcastle in the summer - and has impressive form has seen him return to England's elite playing squad.
And Wilkinson's agent Tim Buttimore is now optimistic a new contract can be thrashed out in the next few weeks.
"Talks are progressing well," Buttimore told
The Times.
"He is really enjoying life out there and we want to get it sorted out sooner rather than later - a matter of a few weeks."
Toulon coach Philippe Saint-Andre is confident that the 30-year-old will remain at the club next season - insisting the forthcoming enforcement of a salary cap in the Top 14 will not hamper any deal.
"There is less pressure on him here and he looks happy," he said. "I have spoken with his agent and his dad and there are a few things to sort out, but I am confident he will stay."
