Scotland veteran picks up one-year Top 14 contract

Top 14 side Castres have signed Scotland lock Scott Murray on a one-year contract, with the option of a second year. The 34-year-old had become a free agent following the relegation from the top flight of Montauban. Murray, who has also played for Edinburgh and Saracens, was capped 87 times by Scotland between 1997 and 2007, captaining the side on three occasions. Castres, who finished fifth in the Top 14 last season, begin this season's domestic campaign against newly-promoted La Rochelle on August 14. They will also be playing in the Heineken Cup, where they have a tough group including Cardiff, Edinburgh and Northampton.
