Ankle injury ends former Wales international's career
Former Wales forward Nathan Budgett has been forced to hang up his boots due to an ankle injury.
Budgett, who also had stints with Ebbw Vale, Bridgend, Celtic Warriors and Cardiff Blues before moving to Bristol, has been sidelined since last season's play off win over London Welsh.
And despite two operations on the problem, the 35-year-old has now been told to quit.
Budgett, who was capped 12 times, will now assist Bristol forwards coach Matt Salter and work with the strength and conditioning team until the end of the season
Bristol head coach Paul Hull said: "Nathan has suffered a series of setbacks in his bid to regain full fitness, and following his second operation, the surgeon has advised him that he would not be able to play rugby again.
"Everybody at the club would like to thank Nathan for his contribution to Bristol Rugby over the last five years."
