Williams and Brown will strengthen squad for next season

Newport Gwent Dragons have boosted their squad for next season with Nathan Williams and Tom Brown on their way to Rodney Parade. The capture of Williams sees the prop return home after joining Moseley in 2007, while rugby league convert Brown joins from Cardiff Blues. Dragons forwards coach Danny Wilson, who has previous experience of Brown, is looking forward to working with the Wales U21 No.8 again. Wilson said: "These are important signings for us. I worked with Tom for two seasons at London Welsh and he is a great ball-carrier with a fantastic turn of pace. "He was unfortunate on joining the Blues last season that a knee injury prevented him from cementing his place in the squad early in the season but he has put in some strong performance since his return to fitness. "He has a great character and his work ethic will fit in with the boys really well."

Dominance

And similarly hoping to find his place in the Dragons team is Williams, who appeared for the Scarlets in 2003 and had stints at Llanelli and Narbeth before joining the Moseley squad. Starting his career in the back row, the 27-year-old has represented Wales at various levels and Wilson said: "Nathan's a strong scrummager. The Moseley pack has a reputation for its dominance and Nathan has been an important part of that. "He will bring extra competition for places in the front row and of course he is a Welshman and it's great to be bringing him home." Williams is now relishing his return to Wales, saying: "I can't wait for pre-season so I can start with the squad and look at getting into the team. "I've seen how much things have developed at Rodney Parade on and off the field. Of course the Dragons getting five players in the squad for the Barbarians is a great boost and shows that this is a side on the up."
