Worcester continue to build squad for return to Premiership

Newly-promoted Worcester have confirmed the signing of Cornish Pirates lock Ben Gulliver ahead of next season's return to the Aviva Premiership. The towering second row has impressed many top-flight clubs with his performances for the Pirates during their recent Championship campaign. Gulliver joined Leicester on a three-month loan last September as cover for injured duo Geoff Parling and Louis Deacon but is now set for a longer spell in the top-flight. Worcester head coach Richard Hill revealed he had been tracking the former Plymouth Albion player for several season and is delighted to finally complete the move. "I have been watching Ben for a long time and I have twice looked to sign him before, only for him to suffer an injury, so I'm delighted to finally sign him up," he said.

Talent

"He impressed me at Coventry and when (Plymouth coach) Graham Dawe signs a forward you know they are a good one because he has a very good eye for a talent. "Ben was on loan at Leicester last season and he played against in the A League and had a very good game for Tigers. "Ben also impressed when playing for Pirates against Warriors. He is a very hard, abrasive, combative and aggressive forward that caused us problems. "He is physically very strong and athletic for a big man. I am very sure Ben will make the step up to Premiership level next season with the Warriors." Gulliver becomes the 11th new signing for the Warriors as they look to bolster their squad in preparation of their Premiership return.
