English return on Frenchman's radar

Sebastien Chabal is weighing up his options after his contract with French side Racing Metro was cancelled last week. The former France international joined the Parisian club from Sale Sharks and says he is not ruling out a return to England as he searches for a new deal. "I have Australia, Japan, French clubs and England, which calls back," Chabal told RMC radio. "I spent five very nice seasons in England. I believe it has enriched me so why not try another destination. "My priority is to have fun. France or abroad, I have no preference." Chabal parted company with Racing by mutual consent last Friday after disagreeing with club president Jacky Lorenzetti over the terms of a new contract and the "club's playing strategy".

Quick deal

But the 34-year-old, who can play at No.8 or lock, is confident he will soon sign for a new club. "We will know very quickly," said Chabal. "I believe at the end of next week it will be sorted out because I want to play again this season." The flamboyant Frenchman began his career with Bourgoin in 2000 before moving to Sale Sharks four years later and Racing in 2009. Chabal has 62 caps for France but was left out of Les Bleus squad for the 2011 Rugby World Cup and has not been recalled for their Six Nations campaign.
