John Andress to leave Exeter for more game time

Irish international John Andress is to leave Exeter Chiefs at the end of the season. The 27-year-old prop, who was re-signed last summer from Harlequins, will join another Aviva Premiership rival, Worcester Warriors, on a two-year deal. Andress made 44 appearances in two seasons for Exeter during his first stint at the club and then went on to join Harlequins for two years. The Warriors-bound front-rower returned to Sandy Park at the beginning of this season and has played 12 times to date. Andress said: "Leaving Exeter has been a really tough decision for me. I've had to speak to a lot of people close to me, including my wife, members of my family and other advisors within the rugby world about the best way forward.

Fantastic time

"Since returning to the Chiefs I've had a fantastic time. The club is great and it's a great bunch of lads down here and they have fantastic coaches. At the same time, there are two very good tight-heads already here and if I want to get more game time I have to move on." Coach of Exeter Chiefs Rob Baxter has said it was the player's decision to leave and he will be sad to see him go. He said: "It is disappointing to see John leave us because as far as we were concerned we wanted him to stay. We offered him a contract but after looking around the market place he's decided to take up an offer at Worcester. "There's a lot of time left in the season and we expect him to be focused on making sure we have a good end to the season. We are only just past the halfway point of the season, we've still got some business to do in Europe and there's a long way to go in the Premiership. "He can worry about next season once this season is over and he will go with our best wishes."
