Powerful forward could play in Super Rugby in 2012

Former France international Sebastien Chabal has stated that he will play in Australia during the coming season. The 34-year-old, who recently left Top 14 club Racing Metro, revealed his move on French radio but did not give any further details. His exact destination is still unclear but Super Rugby's newest franchise, Melbourne Rebels, are arguably the front-runners for the No. 8's services. "I can confide something to you, I will play in Australia soon. That is all I can say. But there is nothing official so far," Chabal told RMC. Chabal would join countryman Frederic Michalak as the only other Frenchman in the Super Rugby competition, although the former Sale player did not even confirm if he would be playing rugby union or rugby league Down Under. Michalak currently plays for South Africa franchise the Sharks but will return to France with Toulon at the end of the season.
