Corey Flynn has been banned for Toulouse’s Top 14 match with Stade Francais on Saturday.

The former New Zealand hooker was sent off for a controversial stamping incident during last weekend’s defeat to Bayonne.

Flynn has been summoned before a disciplinary committee next Wednesday, along with manager Guy Noves, and has been provisionally suspended in the meantime.

He and Noves, who was cited by match officials for his behaviour, had initially been due to appear on October 15 but had the hearing brought forward at their own request.

Speaking at a pre-match press conference, Toulouse scrum-half Luke McAlister defended fellow countryman Flynn.

"He's living with me so I hear him every night," said McAlister. "He's very disappointed, he is that sort of person who takes it to heart.

"He's a very unselfish man, he gives a lot for the team; it's his nature. He apologised to all the boys after the game."

The defeat to Bayonne was Toulouse fifth straight loss, but McAlister shrugged off talk of a crisis at the club.

"There are injuries, yellow cards, red cards, it doesn't help,” he said, “but I think the confidence is the big thing. Confidence comes from winning.

"There is no animosity among the guys, no lack of spirit or effort. We're trying hard but it's difficult. We can't afford to lose many more matches because we've lost five already."

He added: "I don't think we're worried. We know that we are not doing so well but the season is long.

“We have a lot of international, experienced players. We can bring it back together but we need to be consistent.”
