Julian Savea has scored 27 tries for the Hurricanes, surpassing Jonah Lomu's Super Rugby tally.

Savea burst onto the international scene in an Auckland debut against a visiting Ireland side captained by Brian O'Driscoll. The Hurricanes winger ran in three tries on debut, announcing his arrival on the big stage following a rapid rise to prominence in the New Zealand game.

Savea played for New Zealand schools in 2008 before making an appearance for the New Zealand Sevens team a year later. In 2010 he took part in the Junior World Championship held in Argentina, in which he scored eight tries and was named World Junior Player of the Year.

In the same year he was drafted into the Wellington Lions squad for the ITM Cup and in 2011 he went on to make his Super Rugby debut for the Hurricanes against the Highlanders.

The man they call 'The Bus' did not have a spectacular season in 2011 but since then has caused havoc around the southern hemisphere with his trademark ability to crash through defenders, prompting pundits fans and even one All Black coach to compare him with another Hurricanes great - Jonah Lomu.

Though plagued by injury, Lomu scored 26 tries in Super Rugby during a career spent playing for the Hurricanes, Chiefs and Blues. It was and remains an impressive try-scoring record, but as of last weekend he was surpassed by Savea in the early stages of his fifth season in the southern hemisphere competition.

In round five of Super Rugby we were treated to 35 tries across all the games and two of them came from winger Savea.

He started the weekend with a total tally of 25 tries, but in the dying minutes of the first half he successfully collected a kick to put him on equal tries with Lomu, and with just four minutes remaining he scored the winning try to move one ahead of the great man.

Savea himself has rejected talks that he is better than Lomu but, in Super Rugby at least, the stats speak for themselves. Here we showcase all 27 of his tries over the years.
