England wing agress new two-year deal at Kingsholm
Lesley Vainikolo has committed his future to Gloucester after signing a new two-year contract with the Guinness Premiership outfit.
The former rugby league star had been touted for a possible return to the 13-man game when his existing deal at Kingsholm expires at the end of the current season.
However, the England international winger has opted to remain in union and has extended his stay with Gloucester who he joined in 2007.
The 30-year-old played in the Cherry and White's LV= Cup final defeat to Northampton on Sunday and has now provided the club with a timely boost after agreeing to stay on.
"I am really pleased that we've agreed terms with Les," Gloucester head coach Bryan Redpath stated.
"He's worked so hard to get back to fitness after his Achilles' injury, and I think we are just seeing him get back to the form that we know he is capable of.
"He's been excellent for us in 2010.
"He's always been capable of finishing off moves, but he has also been sucking in defenders and creating space for others.
"It's not just about his contribution on the pitch though.
"He's a great character around the club, hugely popular with the rest of the squad, and it will be good to have him around for a couple more years."
