Sale Sharks scored eight tries as they inflicted a 14th consecutive defeat on London Welsh.

The Sharks recorded maximum points with a 52-12 thrashing at the Kassam Stadium on Sunday.

Scrum-half Rob Lewis got Welsh off to a perfect start by intercepting a loose pass and running 60 metres for the opening try of the game on his 100th appearance for the club. No 8 Opeti Fonua added another after the break but, in between, Sale had taken complete control.

Hooker Tommy Taylor and wings Tom Arscott and Will Addison scored two tries each while full-back Mike Haley also went over to put the game beyond Welsh.

Fly-half Nick Macleod converted five of the scores, with replacement wing Mark Cueto getting another try towards the end which was converted by replacement Joe Ford.

Saracens halted the momentum of Bath with a 34-24 win after a brilliant second-half performance.

Jamie George and Chris Ashton scored tries for Saracens with Goode kicking a further 13 points, while Bath responded with tries from Samesa Rokoduguni and Olly Woodburn and nine points from new signing Tom Homer’s boot.

Wasps thrashed Harlequins 37-6 at the Ricoh Arena to move up to fourth in the Aviva Premiership.

They now have a seven point lead over eighth placed Quins with eight games remaining as the race for play-off and European spots moves to a climax.

Wasps scored tries through Tom Varndell, Elliot Daly and two penalty try awards with Andy Goode converting all three and kicking three penalties. Alex Lozowski added a conversion with Nick Evans kicking two penalties for the visitors.
