London Irish back row forward Conor Gilsenan has signed a two-year contract extension with the club.

The 22-year-old has been rewarded with the new deal after becoming a valuable member of the Exiles’ squad since joining them at the start of this season from Leinster.

Gilsenan has represented and captained Ireland at U18, U19 and U20 level and has played a key part in London Irish's European Challenge Cup and Premiership campaigns this season.

Head coach Glenn Delaney said: "We are delighted that Conor has extended his contract with us. He joined in the summer and has adapted to life in the Premiership very quickly. He is constantly improving and showing a high level of work rate and ability.”

Operations director Bob Casey said: "Conor is a top-quality young Irish player and very ambitious. He has been a great addition to the squad with his work ethic and leadership qualities.”

Gilsenan said: "I am delighted to have signed a contract extension. I have really enjoyed my time at London Irish and the club is clearly heading in the right direction.

“The club welcomed me in and has been my family away from home for the last year. This is the sort of environment every player wants to be in and I am really looking forward to the next couple of years.”
