England lock to undergo MRI scan on injured shoulder

England lock Simon Shaw faces an anxious wait over how long he faces on the sidelines. The 36-year-old will undergo an MRI scan after damaging his shoulder in the RBS Six Nations defeat to Ireland. Shaw has already had an X-ray on the a/c joint after meeting with a shoulder specialist on Monday. However the medical teams at Wasps and England will now wait for the results from the scan before deciding on the best course of treatment. A statement from the RFU read: "Further to an earlier X-ray and a meeting with a shoulder specialist, Simon Shaw will have an MRI scan on his shoulder later this week. "This will determine if Simon's shoulder has been affected by the injury he suffered to his a/c joint on Saturday, which continues to be assessed and monitored." England are also monitoring the fitness of Delon Armitage after the London Irish full-back damaged his rib cartilage at Twickenham. Both players remain a doubt for England's next Six Nations clash against Scotland at Murrayfield on March 13.
