Teenager added to squad for Odense leg
England Sevens coach Ben Ryan has called up Marcus Webber for the final leg of the European Series.
The 18-year-old, who attends Manchester Grammar School, joins Dan Norton, Tom Powell, Joel Hodgson and Aaron Myers in being added to the squad for the Odense Sevens.
Webber won gold in the Sevens at the Commonwealth Youth Games while he appeared in the LV= Cup for Leeds Carnegie last season.
Nick Royle (hand), Jack Preece (knee) and Matt Williams (hamstring) will miss the final event of the season through injury while Tom Mitchell and Dan Bibby are representing Great Britain are the World University Championships in Brive.
"Marcus is the second player after James Lightfoot-Brown from the Commonwealth Youth Games team to step up and they formed the half back partnership in that side," said Ryan.
Rest
"He can play anywhere and first trained with us as a 16-year-old, so we've been monitoring his progress and we're keen to involve him.
"It's good to have Dan Norton back in action too. He's had a well-earned rest after his exploits in the HSBC Sevens World Series and we'll use him sparingly in Odense."
The 16-team tournament will see England face Germany, hosts Denmark and Scotland in Saturday's pool games.
"We've won all 14 games we've played in Europe so far this summer and we're keen to keep that run going as long as possible," added Ryan.
"But everyone will want to stop us. Scotland will bring in their full-strength side you'd expect to see in the World Series and that will be a particularly tough test."
England Sevens: John Brake, Chris Brightwell, Michael Ellery, Joel Hodgson, James Lightfoot-Brown, Aaron Myers, Dan Norton, Ollie Phillips, Tom Powell, James Rodwell, Marcus Webber, Jeff Williams.
