Scotland flanker Rob Harley faces a race to be fit for the start of the Six Nations after being ruled out for 'several weeks' by Glasgow.

Harley sustained knee and ankle injuries while playing for his club side in their 16-6 win over Edinburgh in the Guinness PRO12 on Saturday.

He was hurt in a collision with international team-mate David Denton but, although he faces an absence to start 2015, the news is actually more positive than Glasgow had originally feared.

A Warriors spokesman said: "Following a scan at BMI Ross Hall Hospital it's been confirmed that Rob Harley has tissue damage to both his left knee and left ankle.

"However, he does not require surgery and is likely to be sidelined for several weeks.

"Several other players are undergoing further assessment and investigation. The club would like to thank the radiology department at BMI Ross Hall Hospital for all their help this week."

Scotland open their Six Nations campaign against France on February 7 in Paris, giving Harley just over five weeks to prove he is back to 100 per cent and able to secure a place in Vern Cotter's squad.
