Former Scotland Sevens captain Colin Gregor has been forced to retire because of a knee injury.

The 34-year-old, who won 58 caps for the sevens side, represented Scotland at two Commonwealth Games and played for Glasgow Warriors from 2004 to 2011.

He is the third top points scorer of all time in the HSBC World Sevens Series, with 1345 points.

Gregor will work in television and continue work on a Masters course on team dynamics at Heriot-Watt University.

"I will miss playing professional rugby and the opportunities the sport has given me to play in these incredible competitions," he said.

"However, as one door closes another opens. I'm excited by what the future holds and I can look back on my career with fond memories."
