Fiji captain told he was 'too old and not good enough' to play for Wales
Fiji captain Deacon Manu has claimed that Wales told him he was "too old and not good enough" to play for their national side.
The Scarlets prop will face Wales at the Millennium Stadium on Friday, a year after he was touted for a call-up to Warren Gatland's side.
Manu was rumored be in contention for selection after qualifying on residency grounds but eventually committed his international future to Fiji.
And now he has revealed that Wales snubbed his services because they believed he was not young enough and did not have enough quality.
"You will have to ask Warren how close the Welsh link was," Manu told the
South Wales Echo.
"All I was told by Wales was I was too old and not good enough. There does not seem much room for debate there!
"Things have moved on and it is always a proud moment to be stepping out for Fiji. And to be named captain was a privilege."
