The Welsh Rugby Union (WRU) has announced what it describes as the biggest shirt sponsorship deal in its history after agreeing fresh terms with insurance company Admiral.

Admiral's logo has featured on the Wales senior team shirts since November 2010 but the new deal will extend the arrangement until 2017.

The insurance company, which has its headquarters in Cardiff, will also support the Wales women's side through shirt sponsorship.

"We are delighted and proud that Admiral are continuing in their support of Welsh rugby until 2017," WRU group chief executive Roger Lewis said.

"Their take on sponsorship of the Wales national team is a unique one, and we have worked hard together on developing a programme which meets their specific needs.

"Since November 2010, when we first joined up together, there have been some magnificent moments on the pitch, including two (Six Nations) Championship wins, with one a Grand Slam."

The sponsorship deal secures Admiral prime position for Wales' first game of the Rugby World Cup, against Uruguay on September 20 at Millenium Stadium.
