Fly-half facing six months on the sidelines

Italy have been rocked by news that fly-half Craig Gower will miss the RBS Six Nations with a serious knee injury. The cross-code convert is facing up to six months on the sidelines after he was told he needs surgery to repair damaged ligaments. Gower suffered the injury in the Azzurri's Test defeat to Argentina, with Luciano Orquera taking over the No.10 jersey for the matches against Australia and Fiji. Gower, who was capped by Australia playing rugby league, now faces a race against time to be fit in time for the World Cup.
