Argentina lock one of nine players released
Northampton have confirmed that nine players will leave the club following their Guinness Premiership play-off heartbreak, including former Argentina captain Ignacio Fernandez Lobbe.
The powerful lock, who had formed a formidable partnership with Juandre Kruger, has been linked to a move to Edinburgh.
Kruger is also leaving after agreeing to return to South Africa to join the Bulls, while Neil Best has signed for Worcester and Joe Gray will head to Harlequins.
Former Sale back Chris Mayor is believed to be set for a return to rugby league, while Mark Hopley, Scott Gray and Barry Everitt have also been released.
Experienced prop Darren Morris, who only joined the Saints on a short-term deal after Santiago Bonorino was forced to retire, is also on the look out for a new club.
Alan Dickens has decided to hang up his boots to concentrate full-time on his new role as the Saints' academy manager.
And director of rugby Jim Mallinder has praised the outgoing players for their contributions during their time at Franklin's Gardens.
"All of the players who are leaving have played a big role in helping the Saints get where we are over the past two or three years," he said.
"They have all made a contribution, in big and small ways, and we wish them the best for the future."
Saints have also announced that academy players James Cannon, Jon Vickers and John Brake will also be leaving in the summer after failing to secure senior contracts.
