Forwards coach told his contract will not be renewed
Newcastle head coach Alan Tait has begun the restructuring of his backroom staff by releasing Stuart Grimes.
Former Scotland international Grimes had spent the past two years working as the forwards coach at Kingston Park.
However Grimes has now been informed that his contract will not be renewed - with Tait, who replaced Steve Bates in charge ahead of the final Premiership game of the season, keen to bring a fresh face in.
Tait said: "I'd like to thank Stuart for all of his work over the past two years on the coaching side, and to wish him all the best for the future.
"It was by no means an easy decision not to renew his contract because Stuart has been a great friend to me, and has made a vital contribution to our line out and set piece during his time here.
"But as a relatively inexperienced head coach I feel that I need to look outside of the club to bolster my staff, to get some fresh input from outside and most importantly someone who has been there and done it as a coach over a number of years.
"I am in the process of finalising my coaching set-up with that in mind, but in the meantime I would like to once again thank Stuart for all of the hard work he has put into the job during his time here at the Falcons."
