Will Chudley cannot wait to taste Aviva Premiership action with new club Newcastle Falcons next season.
Promising No.9 looking forward to challenges with new club
Will Chudley says he cannot wait to taste Aviva Premiership action with new club Newcastle Falcons next season.
The 23-year-old scrum-half moved to the Falcons from Bedford Blues and will join up with his new team-mates for an intensive pre-season training period on June 13.
He will battle for the No.9 jersey with fellow new boy Jordi Pasqualin and Chris Pilgrim and is relishing the challenge that lies ahead.
Chudley told the club's
official website: "I cannot wait to play for Newcastle Falcons.
"When I went to Newcastle to look around the club, I was immediately struck by how professional the club was and the gym was awesome.
"I am really excited at the prospect of playing my rugby in the Aviva Premiership."
Outstanding display
Chudley, who comes from Wellingborough near Northampton, scored five tries for the Blues in the Championship last season, and put in an outstanding display against Worcester in the play-off semi-final.
He feels he is now ready to step up to the top flight.
Chudley added: "I've had four seasons in the Championship which has set me in good stead for this new challenge.
"There is a lot of quality up there in the same position, with Jordi and Chris competing for a first team place, so I will have to be on top of my game.
"I know there is a lot of passion for the Falcons up there and I've heard it's a really nice place to live.
"It will be a very new experience for me but one I will hopefully relish in the North-East. It was great to see the club secure Premiership rugby last season and I am sure the Falcons will have a successful campaign this time round."
Delighted
Newcastle head coach Alan Tait said he is delighted to add the youngster to his ranks.
Tait said: "He's someone that came on the radar a month or so ago because I've been looking at young nines to come on board.
"I was thinking of getting an experienced guy in but as I said to Jordi Pasqualin and the other guys coming in, I will give these lads a real good crack at Premiership rugby.
"Will doesn't want to come here to play second fiddle. I told him I would give him a fair crack of the whip and I've stuck to my word."
Tait added that he was impressed with Chudley's display against Worcester
He said: "I thought he was man of the match against Worcester.
"If there was ever a game to make my mind up, then that was it. He's quick, he's got great service and I think he's a blend of our other two scrum-halfs, Chris Pilgrim and Jordi Pasqualin."
