Scrum-half joins Gopperth, Hogg and Vickers in signing a new deal
Talented sacrum-half Chris Pilgrim has committed his future to Newcastle Falcons despite the on-going uncertainty at the club.
The Falcons finished bottom of the Aviva Premiership after a miserable campaign - and they have been left hoping for a favourable outcome from the RFU Championship play-offs to save them from the drop.
A win for Bedford or the Cornish Pirates in the play-offs would save them, while even London Wlesh are not certain of going up - leaving Bristol as the serious challengers to Newcastle's hopes.
However despite potential facing a season in the Championship, Pilgrim has joined Jimmy Gopperth, Ally Hogg and Rob Vickers in staying loyal.
Delighted
And Pilgrim admitted the appointment of Dean Richards as the incoming director of rugby had a major influence of his decision to sign a new deal.
Pilgrim told the club's official site: "I am delighted to have signed a new contract and I am really looking forward to working under Dean Richards.
"The fact that Dean Richards is coming in has had a massive bearing on my decision to stay in the north east and there is certainly a very bright future for the club.
"I want to be a part of something special here - now my aim is to get my head down and keep working hard in training."
