England Sevens scrum-half Sam Egerton has joined Harlequins on a short-term basis.

Quins have moved to add another No 9 option with Karl Dickson sidelined for at least two months with a broken hand.

Egerton was educated at Oxford University and played a starring role in four consecutive Varsity Match victories and, in 2014, became the first player to score a try in three straight matches since 1925.

He joined Yorkshire Carnegie in January 2015 and scored seven tries in 11 appearances before signing a deal with the national sevens squad.
