England international faces lengthy spell on sidelines

England and Harlequins wing Ugo Monye has been ruled out for up to 12 weeks after having surgery on his big toe. The 27-year-old, who has been named in the England Saxons squad this season, underwent the operation on Friday evening. Quins described the procedure as "successful" but Monye could still be out of action until mid-December, meaning he may miss a large portion of his club's Aviva Premiership campaign as well as being unavailable for the autumn internationals. "The extent and duration of the injury will be known more clearly after further consultation with the surgeon," Quins said in a statement. Monye has won 13 caps for England and was also included in the British and Irish Lions squad for last year's tour of South Africa, where he scored a try in the third Test at Ellis Park.
