Worcester have announced the signing of former Bath centre Alex Crockett on a two-year contract.

Former Bath centre handed chance to revive career

Worcester Warriors have signed former Bath centre Alex Crockett on a two-year contract. Crockett finished the 2009-10 campaign on loan with Bristol, having served a lengthy Rugby Football Union ban. Three ex-Bath players - Crockett, Michael Lipman and Andrew Higgins - each received nine-month suspensions last summer after refusing a club request to take drug tests as part of their probe into events at an end-of-season party in London. England international flanker Lipman is now with new Super 15 franchise Melbourne Rebels, while wing Higgins recently joined Guinness Premiership newcomers Exeter. Crockett, 28, will move to the Warriors ahead of their Championship campaign next term. Worcester head coach Richard Hill said: "I have known Alex for a long time and have followed his career. From a very young age he showed great talent. "He is a very talented, intelligent rugby player who will be a great asset to the club."

Tomaszczyk deal

The Warriors have also given a two-year deal to former England Under 18 prop Oliver Tomaszczyk. Tomaszczyk, 23, previously part of Newcastle Falcons' academy, will arrive at Sixways after completing his studies in modern languages at Oxford University. "We're pleased to announce that we've signed tight-head prop Oliver Tomaszczyk," Hill said. "He attracted a lot of interest from other clubs including Munster and so we are delighted that he has chosen the Warriors. "Oliver comes to us with a very good pedigree. Over the last few years he's dedicated himself to his studies at Oxford University, culminating in his appearance in the Varsity match in which he was outstanding. "I know the Oxford University coach Steve Hill very well as we coached the England Students together and he has excellent judgment. "I have also been impressed that he has gone off to play in Argentina as part of his personal and academic development. I'm sure that experience of scrummaging in Argentina will help him develop even more quickly."
