Scrum-half looking ahead after signing two-year deal
Scott Mathie has admitted he is excited about the future after agreeing a new two-year deal with Leeds Carnegie.
The 27-year-old finished the season as the first-choice scrum-half at Headingley, having helped Leeds beat the drop.
And the former Natal Sharks ace, who saw off competition from former England international Andy Gomarsall for the No.9 shirt, is delighted to be staying.
"I wanted to stay here and I am really excited about what the next two years have in store for Leeds Carnegie,'' said Mathie.
Delighted
"I managed to establish myself in the starting line up this season and I am very proud to wear the No.9 jersey and now I want to hold on to it and be part of Leeds' future."
Leeds head coach Neil Back insisted that Mathie has fully deserved a new deal after a fine run of form.
"Scott has developed incredibly well this season," said Back.
"He is an ambitious player who has been a key part of our team in the crucial run in and we are delighted he is staying here."
