Saxons centre had only just returned to action after ankle injury
Gloucester expect Henry Trinder to be sidelined for at least a month after he broke his jaw during Saturday's victory over Harlequins.
The 22-year-old was admitted to Gloucestershire Royal Hospital on Sunday, where an X-ray confirmed the fracture and surgery was carried out to insert a plate, the club said on their official website.
The England Saxons centre was hurt in his comeback game after a month out due to an ankle injury; he now faces another lay-off, this time of between four and six weeks, after being discharged from hospital on Monday morning.
Trinder took a heavy blow to his head after a clash with Ugo Monye, forcing him off 11 minutes into the second half of the Aviva Premiership clash.
Gloucester went on to win the game 29-23 at Kingsholm, handing league leaders Quins just their third loss of the campaign.
