London Irish hooker pens new two-year contract

London Irish hooker James Buckland has signed a new deal that will keep him at the Exiles for two more seasons. The 31-year-old hooker has been a first-team regular for the Aviva Premiership outfit during the current campaign, racking up 20 appearances. Buckland, who played for England Saxons in 2006 and 2011, joined Irish from Wasps in 2008. "I have thoroughly enjoyed my four years at London Irish and I'm looking forward to the next two seasons," he said. London Irish head coach Toby Booth says that Buckland has become a key part of the team's set-up and is happy to see him extend his stay at the Madejski Stadium. "James has a fantastic set piece game which is vital in the Premiership," Booth said. "You need a solid platform to play off up front if you are to be successful. He is a highly committed performer for London Irish whenever he takes the field."
