Aviva Premiership champions book November date with Australia

Reigning Aviva Premiership champions Leicester have announced a fixture against Australia on November 9 at Welford Road. The Tigers have lined-up international southern hemisphere opposition for the second season in a row after playing South Africa last year. Leicester won on that occasion, with a try from Lucas Amorosino and superb kicking display from Ben Youngs propelling them to victory in front of a packed home crowd. Managing director David Clayton is expecting a similar turnout when the two-time World Cup winners travel to Welford Road during their autumn tour of Europe. "It is a very special event when an international squad plays on a club ground and we are delighted to be able to welcome Australia this year," he told the club's official website.

Memorable

"The Springboks fixture last season was a very memorable occasion and we're looking forward to another historic encounter with the Australians. "I'm sure this will be a popular fixture among our supporters and there will be great interest in the game." Wallabies coach Robbie Deans is relishing the chance to test his side against top-level club opposition. He added: "Going up against Leicester - the Premiership champions - is an exciting opportunity for our players, and Australian Rugby in general. "We have already seen the benefit of the two midweek tour matches that we played in England and Wales last year flow through this season, in terms of broadening the depth that we have across a number of positions."
